Alex Highsmith, DE Charlotte

There was a decent amount of buzz about Alex Highsmith coming into this event, and from everything analysts are saying, he’s proven to be a skillful player. The Raiders have done a nice job building up the edge position since Mayock took over as GM, but this is a guy who they may target in the later rounds.

Highsmith was highly productive his senior season with 15 sacks and 21 tackles for loss and has the size (6’4, 245lbs) of a prototype edge player. The high number a pass rusher senior this season denied him a spot in the senior bowl next week, but with how he has performed during Shrine week, he could get a late invite.

Highsmith has been showing his full toolbox in one-on-one not only as a player who can speed rush but also use power and beat guys inside. With Oakland having four picks from #80 to #111, perhaps they take a look at Highsmith. They already found success with a group of five pass rusher last season in Maxx Crosby, so maybe they can strike gold twice.
