James Morgan, QB FIU
NO, he is not going to replace Derek Carr, so put down the pitchforks, but James Morgan from FIU is an interesting quarterback prospect to keep an eye on.
In all seriousness, if the Raiders are going to be looking to bring in a young player to backup and learn behind Carr, Morgan could be an option in the later round.
From reading, there hasn’t been a ton of buzz from the quarterbacks, but Morgan has proven to have an NFL level arm and has been willing to show it off. Quarterbacks tend to be extra conservative in these settings, but Morgan has been throwing into tight windows and giving his pass-catchers a chance to make players. The red zone, in particular, has been an area he’s shown promise this week.
The Raiders have interviewed Morgan this week already, so Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock have both seen something noteworthy. Gruden loves his quarterbacks, and is going to kick the tires on a lot of them during the draft process, and Morgan is definitely a guy to keep an eye on moving forward.
