The Oakland Raiders once again rolled with Derek Carr at quarterback in 2019, and in his sixth season as the starter, he put up solid numbers statistically.
Derek Carr entered his sixth season as the Oakland Raiders starting quarterback in unfamiliar territory. For most of his career, Carr had to shuffle between both head coaches, and offensive coordinators, only going into a season with the same staff as the year before once.
In that season, Carr nearly walked away with an MVP trophy, as he led the Raiders to a playoff berth despite seeing his season end with a broken leg. Fast forward three years later, and Carr has re-wrote the Raiders record book in terms of passing, but the wins continue to evade him in the Silver and Black.
The 2019 Raiders improved from four wins in 2018, to seven wins, and Carr had a lot to do with that. He developed an incredible rapport with tight end Darren Waller and rookie wideout Hunter Renfrow, all the while throwing for over 4,000 yards without a true WR1 in the receiving corps.
Let us take a look at the year that was, if they exceed expectations, what needs to change moving forward, and an overall grade for the position group.
