Raiders trade into the second round to select Jalen Hurts

Why?

If the Raiders want to select a quarterback, it would be smart to avoid using a first-round pick on that player. The Raiders need to address the wide receiver group, as well as having multiple defensive needs. If the Raiders can take a receiver and linebacker in the first round, as well as adding a talented quarterback later, they may do it.

How the trade makes sense

The Seahawks are a great team, but it seems like they may be close to a small rebuild. With this scenario, the Seahawks can add more draft picks, while the Raiders move up to get the player they want in Hurts. The Seahawks need depth, so the more players the better, as they have to add players in front of Russell Wilson, and give him more weapons on the outside.

Hurts is also a guy who will be a good competition player for Derek Carr as he enters his seventh season as the starter for the Raiders. There is no doubt Carr will be the starter in 2020, but if he once again fails to produce wins, at least they have an in-house, young quarterback waiting to succeed him.
