Michael Ojemudia – Cornerback, Iowa

Cornerback is always a tough position to look at during these practice weeks because the nature of one-on-one drills is designed to benefit the offense. However, there were a few corners that stuck out this week, and Iowa’s Michael Ojemudia is a name to watch out for.

Ojemudia is one of the more unconventional prospects you’ll find as he was actually a former 2-star linebacker coming out of high school. He is still raw in terms of his technique, which is what will likely have him a little further down the draft, but he’s certainly got some attractive traits.

The first is his physicality as a man press corner, and from watching a little bit of his Iowa film, he brings that same mentality to the run game. Ojemudia had a very nice run fill during the game on Saturday in the 4th quarter against Arizona State ‘s Eno Benjamin that showed that physical mindset. In coverage, he held his own staying attached to receivers, and with six career interceptions, there are some ball skills to like. During the senior bowl game, he had a very nice pass breakup on a fade in the endzone against LSU’s tight end Stephen Sullivan who is 6’5.

There is still a good amount of development that needs to be done with Ojemudia, but he could be worth a pick later in the draft. Mainly if the Raiders chose not to address cornerback with their earlier picks. Ojemudia, along with Notre Dame’s Tony Pride Jr, could be nice fits as rotation guys that eventually become starter level.
