3. Detroit Lions: Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
The Lions pass defense was among the league’s worst this season. Outside of Darius Slay, the Lions do not have much help on their defense, especially at cornerback. Jeffrey Okudah and Darius Slay could instantly turn the Lions pass defense struggles around.
4. New York Giants: Jedrick Willis, OT, Alabama
The Giants took a risk last season in drafting Daniel Jones, and that risk paid off, as he proved he can play a strong quarterback at the NFL level. Now, they must protect their quarterback if they want him to continue to produce, and Jedrick Wills from Alabama is an outright monster.
5. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
Before Tua Tagovailoa’s injury, the term “Tank for Tua” was thrown around for the Miami Dolphins all season. Now, Miami has the chance to take him at No. 5 overall with the hope that he can stay healthy and turn the franchise around. They have three first round picks, so help is on the way.
6. Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
It has become clear that Philip Rivers will not be returning to the Los Angeles Chargers next season, meaning the team needs a new quarterback to lead the franchise moving forward. Justin Herbert has the potential to be the best quarterback in this class, and with the talent in Los Angeles, he could make the Chargers a playoff contender immediately.
7. Carolina Panthers: Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson
With the surprise retirement of Luke Kuechly, the Carolina Panthers can replace him with another game-changer at the linebacker position in Isaiah Simmons. Simmons can play multiple positions on the field, with the speed to play coverage as well as having great tackling ability. For the Panthers, he could be their version of Derwin James from the Los Angeles Chargers.
