Con: Brady would be in a new system

One argument about Brady his entire career is that he is a “system quarterback,” and that could be so. Brady has played under Coach Bill Belichick his entire career, a man who is considered to be the best coach in NFL history. Taking Brady out of that system could result in less production.

Gruden’s system is not easy to learn, and considering Brady would be a Raiders for two years max, it may be difficult for him to make that adjustment this late in his career. Would Gruden be able to adjust the system to fit Brady, or would he expect Brady to change his game?

Brady is an incredibly smart individual, so it is not like he could not grasp Gruden’s system quickly, but that may be a lot to ask him at this point in his career. Brady knows the Patriots offensive scheme like the back of his hand, and we have not seen what he can do at the NFL level without Belichick as his head coach.
