Round 7 Pick 230: Deonte Harris, WR, Assumption College
Original Pick: Quinton Bell, DE, Prarie View A&M
The Raiders took a risk on Quinton Bell in this draft, and unfortunately, it did not pay off. In fact, he was the only player drafted by the team this past April that did not appear in a regular season game for them, despite the fact there were high hopes when the team drafted him.
It is rare to find a stud in the final round of the draft, but the Raiders can get one with Deonte Harris. Harris is a receiver but is used mainly as a return specialist for the New Orleans Saints, and he would have played that same role with the Silver and Black.
Harris turned in a phenomenal rookie season as a return specialist, being named to the Pro Bowl and given All-Pro recognition. The seventh round does not always yield the kind of players the Saints found in Harris, but hindsight being 20-20 in a re-draft, the Raiders can see the future here.
