Las Vegas Raiders: 3 potential free agent targets at cornerback
The Las Vegas Raiders still have their issues on the defensive side of the ball, and they could target a cornerback in free agency this offseason.
With so much buzz around the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft, free agency can be an afterthought for some. For the Las Vegas Raiders, they are going to need to take advantage of both avenues to build up a defense that saw strides up front, but continued to struggle in coverage.
Looking around the media world at all the potential mock drafts, most people see the Raiders using majority of their top end picks, namely their two first rounders, on other positions of need. That’s why i believe they can really make the most improvement to their secondary through this years free agent pool, which is loaded with talent at all the defensive back positions.
We saw the Raiders move on from former first round pick Gareon Conley, trading him to the Houston Texans for a 3rd rounder. That in turn paved the way for rookie second round pick Trayvon Mullen to see some significant starting time. Trayvon really stepped up and showed a lot of promise and is poised to take a big leap in year 2.
The best way the Raiders can help that progression is by bringing in talented, proven stars to play opposite of him and help him play at an even more elevated level. The Raiders have some young talent at the position, but need more star power to help bolster a secondary that has to see the likes of Tyreek Hill and Keenan Allen twice a year.
In this article I will touch on 3 of the top options the Raiders could look to potentially target to secure some cornerback help via free agency.
