Linebacker Greer Martini, Dallas Renegades

The Dallas Renegades have one of the best defenses in the XFL so far. They’ve only allowed six touchdowns in three games and surrender the fewest points per game in with 15.0. A big reason for this success is the play of linebacker, Greer Martini.

Martini has been extremely impressive in coverage through the league’s first three games. He has allowed a 50 percent completion rate for a measly 15 yards and has a passer rating of 56.3 when targeted. Also, the linebacker has posted the second-highest PFF coverage grade at his position (minimum 20 snaps dropping in coverage).

Before getting drafted by the Roughnecks, Martini was a training camp invite for the Green Bay Packers but didn’t end up making the team and spent 2018 playing for the Salt Lake Stallions in the AAF. His performance in the defunct league was impressive enough that the Minnesota Vikings invited him to camp last season but again, he failed to make the roster.

Despite his lack of NFL success, the defender could still be of value to the Raiders. At 6’4″ and 236 pounds Martini possesses the ideal size for today’s prototypical NFL linebacker and clearly, he can cover. The Silver and Black’s backers have struggled to defend the pass for years now, so it couldn’t hurt to kick the tires on a player who has seen success in that department at the professional level.
