2020 NFL Combine recap: Adam Trautman solidifies his case as tight end No. 1
By Evan Groat
The 2020 NFL Combine kicked off with on-field workouts on Thursday, and a small school tight end stood out among his positional competition.
According to draft analyst this year’s tight end prospects won’t get you as excited as in past years, where prospects have come into the league and made an impact right away at the NFL level. In fact, the first tight end off the board in the 2020 draft could be from small school Dayton, Adam Trautman.
Trautman had an impressive week at the Senior Bowl and had a solid combine finishing in the top ten in four categories. While the Las Vegas Raiders are not going to spending an early pick on the tight end position, general manager Mike Mayock has stated he is going to evaluate every player, and there was plenty to evaluate on Thursday within this position group.
The player who did the most to help himself at the tight end position was Charlie Taumoepeau out of Portland State. Taumoepeau finished top ten in all six of the drills. He might not be a household name but scouts and general managers will spend some extra time on his film in the upcoming weeks.
