K’Lavon Chaisson, EDGE, LSU

With the 12th pick, Wilson predicts that the Las Vegas Raiders will select LSU’s K’Lavon Chaisson. The hybrid DE/LB has been projected as a first round pick since the college football season ended and his measurables at the combine solidified his stock.

Chaisson chose not to work out at the combine and preferred to let his tape do the talking but his prototypical size had scouts drooling. He measured in at 6’3″, 254lbs with long arms and a nearly 80 inch wing span. He has a similar body type to pass rushers Defensive Live Coach Rod Marinelli has had great success with in the past like Robert Quinn and Simeon Rice but he could stand to put on some weight to be more effective against the run.

Wilson had the following to say about Chaisson:

"K’Lavon Chaisson might be only 254 pounds but he plays with such strength and leverage that he frequently marches offensive tackles that outweigh him by 50 pounds into the quarterback’s lap. He needs to play with more consistency, but that will come with experience."

Chaisson’s calling card is his versatility as he is equally adept at rushing the passer, stopping the run, and dropping back in to coverage. All of those talents were on display in LSU’s title-winning season but his raw statistics don’t jump off the page. His 6.5 sacks in 13 games is good not great but he did record 60 tackles which is sign of that versatility.

Defensive end is not the greatest position of need for the Raiders and this is a deep class but as we know you can never have enough pass rushers. This may be more of a best player available selection rather than a need-based pick for the Raiders and if he becomes more Danielle Hunter than Arden Key he will be a tremendous value at the 12th pick.
