Las Vegas Raiders should investigate a trade for CB Darius Slay

DariusSlay is one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, and while the price may be a bit steep, the Las Vegas Raiders need to investigate possibly bringing him on.
The Las Vegas Raiders have needs on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, and one of the bigger ones is at the cornerback position. Second-year corner Trayvon Mullen has all the talent to be a true CB1 at the NFL level down the line, but they need to add some elite talent around him in 2020.
As it stands, the position group has Mullen, Isaiah Johnson, Nick Nelson and Keisean Nixon, not a group that is going to win any championships. Daryl Worley should be brought back in free agency, but with Lamarcus Joyner moving back to safety, there are giant holes in the cornerback spot moving forward.
One area the Raiders could look to improve is via free agency, where guys like Bradley Roby, Logan Ryan, and Chris Harris will be available. Another is via a trade, and the Detroit Lions have a certain cornerback that is looking for a new home, and could land in Vegas for the right price.
Back in February, Ryan O’Halloran, a Broncos beat writer, tweeted that league executives have said a second or third round pick, plus an extension would be good enough to get Darius Slay in a deal. Based on the Raiders having cap space, and three third round picks, they could be in the market to make this deal this offseason.
Slay, one of the premier corners in the NFL, would be an incredible addition to the Raiders secondary, and would bring with him the experience to take Mullen under his wing. An extension for Slay was reported to be in the $15 million range, which is a steep price, but this position has been bad for so long that it may be worth it.

Las Vegas has the best quarterback in the NFL in their division, and with the group they have at cornerback right now, even with Worley back, they are just not good enough to win the battles. Slay is a good start, and if the team is going to address cornerback in the NFL Draft anyway, might as well turn a third round pick into a Pro Bowler immediately.
