Tyrell Williams

Around this time last year, Tyrell Williams was one of the Raiders’ biggest and most important acquisitions. Head coach Jon Gruden was noticeably excited about bringing in the former Charger and the organization gave him a nice four-year $44.4 million contract. A pretty good raise for a player who only made about $4.4 million with his previous employer.

Williams started the year on fire by averaging 4.3 catches, 54 yards, and a touchdown per game through the first four contests. However, plantar fasciitis forced him to miss the next couple of weeks and clearly affected him the rest of the season as his per-game averages dropped to 2.5 catches, 39.3 yards, and a score once every five contests. The good news is, the wideout’s injury should heal with time off.

Las Vegas desperately needs Williams to be back at full strength. Wide receiver is one of the team’s biggest weaknesses, and even if general manager Mike Mayock spends a first-round pick on the position, the veteran will still be counted on as a number two option. He’s supposed to be one of the team’s best deep threats which obviously, he can’t do if he’s a frequent flier in the training room.
