– Raiders acquire pick No.64 from the Seahawks for picks No. 80 and 121

The rumblings over the offseason regarding the Raiders quarterback situation contained a mixed bag. The Raiders didn’t land Tom Brady but according to the Athletic’s Vic Tafur, “The Raiders were indeed sniffing around Brady as late as this week, according to league sources, and while it is true they never made him an offer, some ballpark numbers were made known to him at some point.”

Jalen Hurts experienced a college career that very few players do. Going from the starting quarterback position at Alabama as a true freshman and guiding them to the national championship, to then losing the starting job to Tua Tagovailoa.

That didn’t detour Hurts as he waited it out one season before eventually transferring to Oklahoma where he uplifted his draft stock, becoming a better all-around pocket passer. Hurts still needs to prove he can make every throw with accuracy, meanwhile, he does exemplify a top-notch football IQ and other quality traits that complement his game nicely.

The Raiders backed Derek Carr during the NFL Scouting Combine but in the same sense, they’ve also stated that they’re looking to upgrade every position if they can do so of some sort. Kicking the tires on a potential Brady move clearly indicates if they think they can find a spark under center than they will certainly do that. I wouldn’t expect a quarterback to be taken on day one of the NFL Draft, but day two appears like a practical outcome despite adding Marcus Mariota in free agency.
