5. Derek Carr

Another controversial choice as we know how split Raider Nation is in their opinions of Derek Carr. I’ve made my feelings on him known and in addition to being a very good quarterback he seems to be a great person as well. As a Raiders fan for more than 20 years now, I have seen the peaks and valleys of Raiders quarterbacks and Carr is the best we’ve had in nearly two decades.

Carr and I are close in age, are both dads to rambunctious boys, and take our faith seriously so there would be no shortage of topics to discuss outside of football. In a theme you’ll see repeated a few times in this article, I would use the time to get the inside scoop on some of the happenings with the Raiders since he joined the team.

I would ask what really happened in 2017 after the Redskins game that seemed to derail the whole season. We’d discuss what really went down with the Khalil Mack trade, what happened with Amari Cooper, and relive the incredible comebacks from the 2016 season.
