Four Raiders named to The Athletic’s Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame

Four Raiders legends were named to The Athletics Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, who made it and who missed out?

The Athletic recently released what they call the “Local Halls of Fame” wherein they create a Hall of Fame for different cities or geographical areas around the country. Some of the locations they created halls for are Seattle, Dallas-Fort Worth, Pittsburgh, Arizona, and several others. The Bay Area edition contains four Raiders legends but there should arguably be many more.

The Bay Area edition includes both San Francisco and Oakland teams but there is a case for creating separate halls for each city considering the amount of candidates on each side of the bay. That might leave some of the legends of the South Bay from the San Jose Sharks or Earthquakes on the outside looking in but they could justify having their own hall.

The 25-person list includes sports legends from both the professional and college ranks with some figures representing multiple teams and multiple levels of their respective sports. Let’s dive right in to one of the “Elite Five” as chosen by the staff of The Athletic Bay Area.
