How free agency impacts each Las Vegas Raiders position group

Quarterbacks
Dating back to last offseason, Derek Carr’s future with the Raiders has been a big topic of discussion. The past couple of months have been no different, especially since Tom Brady was looking for a new team. While the six-time Super Bowl champion ended up signing with Tampa Bay, Las Vegas was still active in the quarterback market.
Marcus Mariota signed with the team and will start training camp as Carr’s backup. However, the former Titan’s contract details certainly suggest that the door is open for him to take over the starting role. Part of Mariota’s incentives includes paying time and performance bonuses which obviously, cannot be accomplished by holding a clipboard on the sidelines.
With the first two spots on the depth chart seemingly set in place, it’s hard to imagine the Raiders will spend pick 12 or 19 on another signal-caller, which was a realistic possibility not too long ago. Jalen Hurts now appears to be the hot name linked to the organization, but barring a trade back into the second round, he might not available when the Silver and Black make their third selection.
Outside of the Oklahoma/Alabama product, I’d be surprised to see Gruden and Mayock bring in another quarterback of note. I expect them to let Carr and Mariota duke it out for the keys to the franchise all year-long.
