8. Dokie Williams

  • 1983 / Round 5 / Pick 138

Growing up in the San Diego area and playing his college ball at UCLA, Dokie Williams has never had to stray away from Southern California. The Los Angeles Raiders took him in the fifth round back in 1983 and he certainly outplayed his draft position.

In William’s rookie season, the organization won its third Lombardi trophy while he contributed on special teams and as a back-up receiver, who scored three touchdowns on the year. While that season might have been the team’s peak, it certainly was not the wideout’s.

He became a full-time starter in 1985 and accumulated 48 receptions for 925 yards, five touchdowns and averaged 19.3 yards per catch. The next year was the peak of Williams’ career as he posted similar numbers in terms of receptions and yardage, but scored eight times.

With 25 career touchdowns, he ranks tied for 12th among pass-catchers in franchise history and never wore any colors other than the Silver and Black in his professional career.
