6. Amari Cooper

  • 2015 / Round 1 / Pick 4

The last time the Raiders needed a wide receiver as desperately as it does now was 2015. That year, the organization would go on to select Amari Cooper with its first-round selection. While he may have fallen out of favor with the fan base recently, the University of Alabama product was very productive in Oakland.

In his rookie season, Cooper racked up over 1,000 yards becoming the first player to accomplish that feat 10 years and is the lone first-year player to reach that mark in franchise history. His five 100 plus yard games and 72 receptions that season are also rookie records for the Silver and Black. All of this resulted in Pro Bowl and All-Rookie Team selections for Coop.

The next year was even more impressive as the wideout accumulated 83 receptions for 1,153 yards and five touchdowns while earning his second All-Star selection, and helping the organization reach the playoffs for the first time in 15 years. Cooper’s 225 receptions and 3,183 receiving yards as a Raider both rank in the top 15 in franchise history, and his 19 touchdowns are tied for 16th. Not too bad for a turd.
