2. Bill Pickel: 54th overall in the 1983 NFL Draft.
Bill Pickel is one of the most underrated players in Raiders history as is usually the case for a player that does the dirty work of a nose tackle. Selected in the second round out of Rutgers, Pickel was a key contributor on the Super Bowl winning team in his rookie season and contributed 6.5 sacks to a unit that terrorized opposing quarterbacks.
Much like Darrell Russell, Pickel exploded in his second season and continued to play like a man with his hair on fire in the interior. Pickel was a pass-rushing demon early in his career as he recorded a whopping 42 sacks in his first four seasons, a feat not achieved by any other defensive tackle in the history of the NFL. This achievement helped Pickel become a First-Team All Pro in 1986 though unsurprisingly for his position, he was not named to the Pro Bowl that season or any other.
In eight years with the Raiders, Pickel played in 121 games, second most all-time for a DT, and is still fourth all time in sacks with 53 total. Not many casual fans know about the greatness of Bill Pickel but his longevity and numbers speak for themselves.
