Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
There is a massive group of fans and experts who want the Raiders to draft Henry Ruggs III in the first round just based on his speed alone, so this may be a bit of a controversial take. One of the players in this draft that I do not want to see the Raiders draft is Ruggs because I believe there are multiple better receivers than him, and because we already have a solid slot receiver.
Obviously, a team can have more than one speedy receiver, but with Ruggs at 5’11, and Renfrow at 5’10, the amount of different plays and passes the Raiders can run in certain situations will be narrow, and the team will have to rely on Tyrell Williams a lot. Renfrow proved to be automatic on third down last season, and will head into 2020 with a big role on this offense.
If the Raiders cannot select Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb with the 12th pick of the draft, I do not believe Ruggs is the correct choice with receivers out there like Tee Higgins and Denzel Mims that the Raiders could select later, while spending the 12th pick on a defensive player. This kid has a lot of upside due to his physical prowess, but is not a fit for this team right now.
