Recent 2020 NFL mocks have Las Vegas Raiders adding a quarterback
NBC Sports Bay Area: Dalton Johnson and Josh Schrock
- #12 – Henry Ruggs III, Wide Reciever, Alabama
- #30 (trade with Green Bay Packers) A.J. Terrell, Cornerback, Clemson
In a joint mock draft, NBC’s Dalton Johnson and Josh Schrock made a few interesting moves and a nice trade involving the Raiders.
Starting at pick 12, Schrock had the Raiders selecting speedster Henry Ruggs III from Alabama.
"“Speed kills and 4.27 speed is lethal. Ruggs isn’t just combine fast, he’s figured out how to play at that speed on every snap. Jon Gruden wants his own Tyreek Hill and now he’s got him.” — JS"
The Raiders certainly lacked speed, and the addition of Ruggs could open up a multitude of things for Gruden’s offense. Ruggs isn’t as polished as his teammate Jerry Jeudy, but he is an explosive and sure-handed playmaker that is hard to pass on.
And in yet another trade scenario, Johnson had the Raiders trading back with the Green Bay Packers to pick #30 while also adding pick 62 at the end of the second round. Then with that pick, Schrock had the Raiders taking Clemson’s, A.J. Terrell.
"“The Raiders kept trading down in 2019 and still landed Trayvon Mullen with the No. 40 overall pick. Now, they add his college teammate after trading down and picking up a second-round pick they hope to use on another receiver. Everything’s coming up Raiders.” — JS"
We all know about the Raiders’ affinity for Clemson players, so this wouldn’t be a surprise at all. Terrell is a long and fluid corner, which is rare, and he has good ball skills despite not being tested a ton. His performance against Ja’marr Chase in the national championship game was not a great showing for him, but he frequently was a victim of perfectly thrown passes by Joe Burrow.
Terrell playing with his former teammate and Clemson Tiger Trayvon Mullen would give the Raiders two nice press man corners to develop.
