Caesars Sportsbook wrong when it comes to the Las Vegas Raiders
By Brad Weiss
Caesars Sportsbook released their odds in regards to the Super Bowl, wins, and making the playoffs, and they were wrong when it came to the Raiders.
On Thursday, Caesars Sportsbook released their current odds in terms of the 2020 NFL season, and the Las Vegas Raiders were shown no love. With five of the first 91 selections in the 2020 NFL Draft, as well as a roster ready to win now, the Raiders should have been given at least a solid chance at making the playoffs this season.
Derek Carr returns after two straight 4,000-yard seasons, and will lead an offense loaded with firepower. Tight end Darren Waller and running back Josh Jacobs were two of the best in the game at their positions last season, and the offensive line is one of the best in the game.
On defense, the Raiders have improved their defensive line, as well as the linebacker group, and with two first round picks in 2020, you have to believe they will address cornerback. Overall, this is a team that is being built up the right way, and would have been a playoff team in 2019 had they not faltered after a 6-4 start.
When it comes to the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs are the obvious favorites, as Caesars has them set at an over/under mark of 12 wins, give them 2-1 odds to win the AFC, and they are -425 to win the division. In addition, they have a number of -1800 when you pick them to make the playoffs, so they are not going to make anyone much money this year.
In terms of winning the AFC, the Raiders are second in the division at 13-1, but this is where it gets tricky. The rest of the division actually have a smaller number in terms of payout if the team makes the playoffs, as the Raiders (+320), will earn you more cash than the likes of Los Angeles Chargers (+175), and the Denver Broncos (+225).
Denver and Los Angeles are both 20-1 in terms of winning the AFC, putting them behind the Raiders. The Broncos are actually second when it comes to winning the division at 6-1, with the Raiders and Chargers tied at 10-1.
When it comes to Caesars, they actually believe the Raiders have a better chance of winning the whole AFC over the Broncos and Chargers than they do that the Silver and Black will beat them out for the division.
Of course, these odds mean nothing right now, outside of the fact you could win some big money if you throw your cash at the Raiders. This is a team that is going to push hard for a playoff spot, and if you can get in early enough, you could more than triple your money at Caesars.
