Will the Raiders draft a quarterback?

The Raiders hold two first round picks in 2020, as well as five selections in the first 91 picks. While they could certainly shock everyone and draft a quarterback, trade away Derek Carr, and hit the reset button at the position, there is no way I see that happening in their first season in Las Vegas.

This team has been building around Carr, and Mariota was brought in for the specific purpose of not only pushing him, but also to support him. Las Vegas has two guys who have won at the NFL level already on their roster, and if Carr cannot get it done this season, they finally have someone they can turn to.

Holding three third round picks, as well as a fourth and fifth, Las Vegas could add a quarterback later on, but that does not make much sense. They have added players in free agency to win now, and they would be wise to utilize the seven draft picks they currently have by filling the gaping holes left on the roster.

While there has been buzz in terms of the team adding a quarterback, I think they pass on one this year, and ride it out with the talent they already have on the team. Next year’s draft class has some monster names, and if the team falters once again, and does not make the playoffs, it is possible they look for a replacement there.
