New Additions

After trying to land big-name cornerbacks like Chris Harris Jr. and Byron Jones in free agency, the Raiders had to settle on a presumed contract with former New York Giants and New Orleans Saints corner Eli Apple. However, that deal fell through late, leaving the Raiders with a serious lack of players at the position group.

Sure, the Raiders added for Saints and Miami Dolphins starter Ken Crawley back in January, and he will get his shot this offseason, but they need help. Mullen is going to be the team’s CB1, as he showed elite coverage abilities last season, but outside of him, it is anybody’s guess who is going to step up.

In the AFC West, especially playing against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs twice a season, this Raiders team needs more help in the secondary. They have added good talent at safety this offseason, including guys like Jeff Heath and Damarious Randall, but the cornerback room will be key if this defense is going to take the next step.
