Las Vegas Raiders 2020 pre-draft position review: Cornerback
By Brad Weiss
Will the Raiders draft a cornerback?
Not only should the Raiders use a first round pick on the cornerback position, but they should revisit it again in the third round, where they will have their next choices. The Raiders hold the No. 12 and No. 19 selections in the first round heading into Thursday, and three draft picks in round three, so they can significantly upgrade this position group via the draft.
Mullen was a solid find in the second round last year, and general manager Mike Mayock has stated that he would like to move up into the second again in 2020. If they have a cornerback they really have their eyes on, they could package a couple thirds to move up into the second round, where there are plenty of talented options available.
After adding to the linebacker group, and bringing in a solid defensive tackle in Maliek Collins, as well as two good safeties in Randall and Heath, the focus has been on the defense this offseason. The Raiders have to go WR1 at pick No. 12, but at No. 19, guys like C.J. Henderson or Kristian Fulton could be in play, or they could move back and get a player like A.J. Terrell or Jeff Gladney later in round one.
