The Las Vegas Raiders selected Damon Arnette with the 19th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, and we take a look at the pick, and hand out a grade.

The Las Vegas Raiders made one of the first surprise selections in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by taking the second-best Ohio State cornerback, Damon Arnette. Arnette had a strong college career, amassing 22 passes defensed over three starting seasons.

He was in the conversation as one of the top cornerbacks not named Jeffrey Okudah leading up to the combine, but a mediocre 40 time (4.56) made him fall in the draft community.

However there is more to the time than meets the eye, as Arnette pulled out of the rest of athletic testing suggesting he may have pulled a hamstring while running. There are reports from people involved with Ohio State that Arnette was always one of the fastest players on the team, and lets best honest, you think an Ohio State starting cornerback is slow?

Arnette earned All-Big 10 conference honors three years in a row, and graduated early in the summer of 2019 which speaks to his maturity, a trait Mayock is very obviously going after at this point.

Here is why the pick makes sense, and the draft grade.
