After picking Henry Ruggs III with pick No. 12 in the first round, the Las Vegas Raiders are now in position to trade down at pick No. 19

The Las Vegas Raiders have made their selection at pick No. 12, passing on both CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy to select Alabama star Henry Ruggs III. It is no big secret that Jon Gruden loves his speedy wideouts, and Ruggs certainly fits that bill, as he ran a 4.27 40-yard dash during the NFL Scouting Combine.

The focus now shifts to the Raiders No. 19 overall pick, where they still need to address the cornerback position. With both Ohio State’s Jeffrey Okudah and Florida’ C.J. Henderson off the board, the Silver and Black are actually in good position to move this pick down some, and possibly get into the second round tomorrow.

General manager Mike Mayock has already stated he would like to get into the second round, and with three third round picks, the Raiders could move No. 19 later in round one, and get a second as well. That would be best-case scenario for the Raiders, who have already addressed their biggest need on offense by selecting Ruggs.

Things can change at any moment, and while Mayock stayed put last year with his three first round picks, do not think he is just going to stand pat again in 2020. Las Vegas does have three third rounders, but then they only have a fourth and a fifth, so you have to think he wants to get himself at least another pick or two.

Of course, the Raiders have more work to do on their roster, but with a lack of a cornerback you could insert in the starting lineup still available, they could move out of pick No. 19. There are still some elite players left in the draft, but with a few picks to go before they select again, maybe Mayock trades down and gets a second round pick.
