Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado

Michael Pittman is the hot name right now on Raiders Twitter, and he is no doubt a great prospect, but I think he might go early in the second round, so to trade up for him would be a steep price. On the other hand, Laviska Shenault is a name that has been slipping quite a bit as he was once thought to be a first-rounder, but now he could fall to the third round due to injury concerns and a mediocre combine.

However, when you put on the tape, you see an absolute playmaker that can score any time he touches the ball.

The Raiders really don’t have a player that they can just quickly give the ball and tell him to make plays, which is what Shenault specializes in. Pair him with Ruggs, now you’ll have two great playmakers that win in different ways. Shenault needs to improve his route running, but as a receiver, he could be another deep threat for the Raiders too.

Injuries are no doubt an issue for Shenault, but taking him later in the draft makes it worth the gamble, in my opinion. As I said, we don’t know if the Raiders are going to stay put or move around on Day 2, but a healthy Shenault would give Derek Carr everything he needs in terms of skill positions.
