Ashtyn Davis, S, California

The Raiders have their hard-hitting safety of the future in Johnathan Abram, and with Damarious Randall only being on a one-year deal, they will need another safety. Cal’s Ashtyn Davis would be a perfect complement to Abram, and he’s a deep safety with the range and ball skills to control the middle and deep half of the field.

Davis is a former track runner and would add tremendous athleticism on the back end of the Raiders defense. He is not the best as a run defender, but will certainly hit receivers if they try and go over the middle of the field or down the seams.

The Raiders need to find a player that is rangy and can prevent big plays against teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, which is why Davis would be such a nice fit. The Raiders may have to trade up for a player like Davis, but without a combine and a groin injury, maybe he slips to a point where the trade isn’t that crazy.

Plus, like we said earlier with Jeremy Chinn, the safety position seems to be devalued some.
