Trevis Gipson, DE, Tulsa

In the middle rounds, it’s worth taking a risk on traits, and Tulsa’s Trevis Gipson is an athlete that could become a much better pro than college player. Gipson has a great first step showing explosiveness and flexibility around the edge, which is something any team can work with.

Tulsa played him on the inside his first few seasons, but this year as more of an edge rusher, Gipson played well.

He will need some time to develop as he works on his technique and grows in understanding of how and when to use his various pass rush moves. But he has all the physical tools to be a productive player in the NFL, and he just needs more coaching to put it all together.

The Raiders could treat his first year as more of a developmental season, using him as a situational pass rusher, then really get something special down the line. The analytics love Gipson and PFF graded him at an 88 overall in 2019 (87.2 in 2018). He clearly talented, but he’s still learning the position.
