Mike Mayock adds another Clemson Tiger to the Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders used the 100th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to select Tanner Muse out of Clemson University, another versatile player.
The Las Vegas Raiders were originally slated to make the 91st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but came to an agreement with the New England Patriots to trade down. The Raiders traded the 91st and 159th pick or the 100th, 139th, and 172nd picks in their first trade of the draft.
With that 100th pick they selected Tanner Muse from Clemson University.
Aside from the player himself, this move is along the lines of what we expected the Raiders to do, but many mock drafts predicted a trade down from the 19th pick for a pick in the second round. Instead they add an additional day three pick where they found some absolute gems like Maxx Crosby and Hunter Renfrow in 2019, so they will hope to repeat that success in 2020.
Tanner Muse is an intriguing pick as he provides a level of versatility that makes him extremely valuable in this era of the NFL. The former Clemson Tiger lined up all over the field in Brent Venables defense, playing linebacker and free safety and terrorizing opposing offenses.
Muse looks the part as either an imposing safety or linebacker at 6’2” and 227lbs and displayed some serious speed at the NFL Combine after running a 4.41 40 yard dash.
Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock have fallen in love with mature leaders from Clemson and Muse fits that mold. A four-year starter after redshirting as a freshman, Muse was a team captain in his senior year and if he sticks around will be another leader in the Raiders locker room and will make an instant impact on special teams.

The Raiders have addressed several needs so far in the NFL Draft and will look to continue to do so on day three. Perhaps a backup running back and some more defensive players are on the cards for the Silver and Black.
