The Las Vegas Raiders selected Amik Robertson at No. 139 overall, and he brings intensity, and a ballhawk mentality to the cornerback room.

With the 139th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Raiders added another cornerback to the roster, selecting Amik Robertson out of Louisiana Tech. The Raiders needed help at cornerback heading into this draft, and they heavily addressed the position.

After selecting cornerback Damon Arnette in the first round, the Raiders felt that it was not enough, so they selected Amik Robertson with their final pick of the draft. At just 5’8, Robertson was an absolute ball hawk in college, recording 14 career interceptions, including five last season.

He is also not afraid to tackle, recording 138 tackles in his career, as well.

As a corner, Robertson will have his hands full when he gets on the field, as the AFC West is loaded with speedy receivers. With that being said, that is the reason that the Raiders likely drafted Robertson, as he plays the game with incredible passion and intensity.

Jon Gruden is all about building a team to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, and Robertson could be a big piece in the down the road in guarding a player like Tyreek Hill. Robertson may struggle a bit against bigger receivers in the NFL, but with the Chiefs having Tyreek Hill, and the Denver Broncos adding KJ Hamler, Robertson will likely have his own personal assignments when he earns a role on the field.

Getting Robertson this late in the draft is an absolute steal, and if there were not worries about his hip, he would have went a lot higher. Robertson will likely develop greatly under an NFL coach, especially with how good he was playing at a school like Louisiana Tech.

Robertson is a player with a high ceiling and will have the ability to get a lot of playing time with such a young group of corner backs on the Raiders roster. This is no doubt one of the best picks by the Raiders in this draft, and a great way to close out a successful draft in general. The Raiders were able to address their wide receiver and corner back needs in multiple ways.
