#55: LB Tanner Muse – LB Matt Millen

Much like Phil Villapiano, Matt Millen was everything that the Raiders look for in a linebacker. He was big, tough, mean, and played with an anger that was borderline criminal. Millen spent nine years with the Raiders and only earned one Pro Bowl selection but earned far more valuable honors with two Super Bowl victories in ’81 and ’84.

Millen continued the great Raider tradition of punishing inside linebackers that Tanner Muse will hope to carry on.

Muse comes to the Raiders having been part of a winning tradition at Clemson University with two national championships under his belt. Though he was listed officially as a safety he also played linebacker and will switch full-time to the position with the Raiders as his new jersey number suggests.

The former Clemson Tiger brings to the game the same fearlessness and tenacity that Millen did but it will take much more than to become the premier 55 the history of the Raiders.

Honorable Mention: Dan Conners (1966-1974)
