Can the Las Vegas Raiders 2020 rookie class live up to their numbers?

#76: OL John Simpson – OL Steve Wisniewski

Robert Gallery tried and failed to become the next great Raider to wear the number 76 and now John Simpson will try to make it his own. Unfortunately for Simpson, he has some massive shoes to fill whenever he dons that number.

Steve Wisniewski wore 76 for the entirety of his NFL career, all 13 years of which were spent with the Los Angeles and Oakland Raiders. Over that span, Wisniewski was named to the Pro Bowl eight times, was named First-Team All Pro twice, and Second-Team All Pro a whopping six times. Wisniewski was one of the best guards in the NFL during the 1990s and was named to the NFL’s 1990s All-Decade Team.

He missed just two starts over 13 years and may very well be on his way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day.

John Simpson is a fine young man who like Tanner Muse, comes to the Raiders with a couple of national championships under his belt but it’s fair to say that barring an absolute miracle he will be just another lineman who couldn’t match the greatness of Steve Wisniewski.
