Cornerback

The Raiders used their second first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on a cornerback in Damon Arnette but if they project him as a starter right away that would leave them with a very young pair of starters. Trayvon Mullen came on strong in the second half of his rookie season in 2019 but even if we expect Arnette to follow a similar trajectory there will be some major growing pains.

The Raiders spent another draft pick on a CB in Amik Robertson who many are calling one of the steals of the draft but he is no sure thing either. Robertson fell in the draft because he is undersized and there is of course no guarantee that he can be a productive NFL player.

Aside from Nevin Lawson and Ken Crawley, no other cornerback on the team has started more than 10 games in their NFL career. With the amount of turnover teams experience at the position that has to be a major concern for the Raiders if the rookies do not produce right away. They will learn quickly in preseason and training camp if the kids have what it takes to produce in the NFL but the learning curve will be steep, especially in this disjointed offseason due to COVID-19.
