LB Ted Hendricks

The Raiders focused most of their free agent dollars this offseason on bringing in two stud linebackers in Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski. The LB position has been one of the weaknesses for the Raiders for the better part of a decade and they have been desperate for a playmaker to dominate the second level.

Even with the additions of Littleton and Kwiatkoski the Raiders are a bit thin at the position and will be looking to rookies or less than spectacular options to fill out the group. With all due respect to Tanner Muse, Marquel Lee, and Nicholas Morrow, the addition of Ted Hendricks would make the Raiders trio of linebackers one of the best in the league.

Hendricks was drafted by the Baltimore Colts but spent the last nine years of his 15-year career with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders. In nine years in Silver and Black, Hendricks made the Pro Bowl four times, was All-Pro twice, and was part of all three of the Raiders Super Bowl winning teams. He played in an era before sacks were an official statistic but there is a reason he is a Hall of Famer and a member of the NFL’s 75th and 100th anniversary teams.

The Mad Stork as he was known would immediately be the best player on the Raiders defense and would give them a much needed boost all over the field.
