Amik Robertson

We now turn our attention to the 2020 NFL Draft, where the Raiders were finished picking in the fourth round with Lousiana Tech cornerback Amik Robertson. Not even the first corner taken by Las Vegas, Robertson could end up being the best, as many feel he was one of the bigger steals of the entire draft.

The 21-year old corner comes from a small program at Louisiana Tech, and despite the small time program, to go along with his 5-foot-8 stature, this is where the small things end for Robertson. The corner possesses incredible athleticism and hit power, and his physicality and athleticism allow him to cover tight ends as well as wide receivers.

This is a very welcoming prospect for the Raiders, considering how bad the cornerback position was for the Raiders in 2019. The Raiders already have a corner with the same body type as Robertson in Lamarcus Joyner, but the 29-year old disappointed in 2019 manning the slot corner position. With a hefty contract, Joyner should start looking over his shoulder sooner rather than later with the incoming Robertson.

Robertson should factor in early and often, maybe even causing Joyner to spend more time at his natural position of safety. The Raiders struck gold in fourth round selection Maxx Crosby last season, and when it comes to the All-American corner Amik Robertson, the second time may surely be the charm.
