Las Vegas Raiders secondary will be tested early, and often in 2020

Raiders to face Tom Brady and Drew Brees

This secondary is going to have a huge test early on, as the Raiders open up their brand new stadium in Las Vegas against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. Brees and the Saints are still one of the better quarterbacks, and teams in the NFL, as he has showed no signs of slowing down as he enters the twilight of his career.

Of course, the last time the Raiders faced Brees was in 2016, during the team’s magical run to the playoffs, and that game ended in dramatic fashion. After Derek Carr hit Seth Roberts with a late touchdown, the Raiders went for two, and the win, and Carr connected with Michael Crabtree to give the Raiders a 35-34 victory.

Boy, if Allegiant Stadium kicks off with that kind of finish, it will be something special.

A few weeks later, the Raiders will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and their brand new quarterback, Tom Brady. The most memorable matchup between Brady and the Raiders is a sore subject for fans of the Silver and Black, as his “fumble” should have led the Raiders into the AFC title game.

Outside of that game, the Raiders are 1-4 against Brady in their lifetime, and their only victory against him came way back in 2002. It will be interesting to see how he does with the Bucs after so many years with Bill Belichick and the Patriots, but this young secondary must be ready for elite Brady every time he steps on the field.
