Las Vegas Raiders 2020 Opponent Review: New Orleans Saints

The Las Vegas Raiders open Allegiant Stadium in primetime on Monday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints, here’s everything you need to know about the Week 2 matchup.

The Las Vegas Raiders will have to wait until Week 2 for the inaugural game in their shiny new digs at Allegiant Stadium. The Death Star, as many in Raider Nation have dubbed it, will be on full display on national television as the Raiders welcome Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints to Las Vegas on Monday Night Football.

Last season the Saints won the NFC South after finishing 13-3 and were one of the favorites in the NFC. 2019 was a remarkable season for the Saints as they overcame a five-week absence from Brees due to injury thanks to great play from their defense and backup Teddy Bridgewater.

They narrowly missed out on a first-round bye thanks to a 2-point loss to San Francisco in Week 14 and a worse conference record than Green Bay and that was their undoing. In what has become typical for the Saints, they lost in the playoffs on a controversial play and in truly heartbreaking fashion for a team that had such high hopes.

Regardless of their playoff disappointments, the Saints have been an absolute machine in the regular season in recent years and this will be one of the biggest tests for the Raiders in 2020.

The last time the Raiders and Saints faced off was in 2016 and the Silver and Black won a barn-burner in Week 1 on their way to the team’s best season in more than a decade. This time around the face-off will be in Week 2 and the Raiders will need to be at their best to open up Allegiant Stadium with a win.
