New Orleans Saints additions and subtractions

Considering they finished 13-3 in 2019 and had no major holes in their roster, the Saints were not major players in free agency but made some under the radar signings that could prove to be big improvements.  The two big additions were signing safety Malcolm Jenkins to a four-year deal and WR Emmanuel Sanders to a two-year deal.

Jenkins was originally drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft and spent four years in New Orleans before making a big money move to the Eagles in 2014. Sanders spent most of his career with the Denver Broncos before spending the second half of 2019 with the 49ers and coming within a few minutes of his second Super Bowl ring.

The Saints also made headlines when they have jack of all trades Taysom Hill to a two-year deal worth $10 million and brought in former division rival Jameis Winston on a minimum deal to backup Brees. They saw first hand the value of having a quality backup when Teddy Bridgewater went 5-0 as a starter in 2019.

The major departures include the aforementioned Bridgewater who signed with the Carolina Panthers as well as three defensive starters in S Vonn Bell, LB AJ Klein, and CB Eli Apple. All three starters have been replaced through free agency but it remains to be seen if they are an improvement.
