Las Vegas Raiders: 5 UDFAs with the best chance to make the roster
By Matt Holder
Here are five players who have a shot at making the squad for the Las Vegas Raiders as undrafted free agents this summer.
This offseason is one of the most important ones in recent history for the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite having a very young roster in 2019, the team managed to stay in the think of the playoff race for the majority of the year. To take the next step and make the tournament, the Raiders have to continue to improve by adding quality players during the down period.
On paper, the Silver and Black have gotten better since the calendar turned by getting rid of some dead weight and adding players like Cory Littleton in free agency, and Henry Ruggs in the draft. However, that alone may not be enough as putting together a quality undrafted free agent class can give the roster some much-needed depth.
Las Vegas added eight more rookies after the NFL Draft, giving the organization a decent chance at finding a diamond or two in the rough. With 16 draft picks in the last two years, only one of which is no longer on the roster, it will be an uphill battle for every player in this year’s undrafted free agent class to make the squad.
Nonetheless, each guy will have a chance to make their case in training camp and potentially earn a spot on the squad.
Here I take a look at the five undrafted free agents who I think have the best chance at making the 53-man roster in September – or whenever the season starts. We’ll take a look at each player individually as well as the situation/other players they’ll be competing with.
Of course, preseason performance will be a big factor in this equation and that will definitely sway my opinion once we get to that point, but for now, let’s take a peek at what the current picture looks like.
