Stealing one player from each AFC West foe

Denver Broncos: OLB/DE Von Miller

What have the Raiders been sorely missing the past few years on defense? A pass rush. What does Denver Broncos OLB/DE Von Miller do better than almost any other player in the NFL? Rush the passer. In fact, since he was drafted by the Broncos in 2011, Miller has sacked the quarterback 106 times and no other player has more than 96 in that same span.

Miller has also been a model of consistency and durability, playing at least 15 games in 8 of his 9 seasons, and recording 10 or more sacks in 7 of his 9 seasons. The former Texas A&M Aggie was one of the driving forces in the Broncos recent Super Bowl victory and he continues to help keep the Denver defense respectable at the very least.

The Raiders have a potentially dominant pass rusher on the roster in Maxx Crosby and Clelin Ferrell has shown flashes but throwing Von Miller in to the mix would give the Silver and Black one of the best pass rushing groups in the NFL. Imagine a speed rush lineup on obvious passing downs of Ferrell, Crosby, Miller, and Carl Nassib terrorizing opposing quarterbacks and it becomes clear why he would be such a big hit in Las Vegas.

The only potential downside is Miller’s age as he is officially over the 30-mark but as we have seen from players like James Harrison and Terrell Suggs, sometimes pass rushers age more like wine than milk. In 2019 he had his worst season since an injury-plagued 2013 but he still notched eight sacks and 20 QB hits. A player like Miller would take the Raiders defense to the next level.
