With 89 days until the opening game of 2020, we start the count down with the best Raiders player at every jersey number. Today we focus on No. 89

With the season less than 3 months away, we take a look at the best player to wear the jersey number of the number of days left before the opener on September 13, 2020 against the Carolina Panthers. That game will kick off the new era of Raiders football.

Before we discuss the player honored as the best to ever wear number 89 for the Raiders, there is an honorable mention candidate that was good but not great, Ronald Curry. The former point guard and quarterback at the University of North Carolina was a seventh round pick of the Raiders and made the switch to wide receiver.

Curry spent six years with the Raiders, playing in 76 games and starting 32 during that span. In those six years, Curry recorded 193 catches for 2347 yards and 13 touchdowns. Used primarily as the third receiver he put up solid numbers for his position and well outperformed his draft position.

The player who we have chosen for this honor played well up to his draft position but just not for long enough.
