Las Vegas Raiders 2020 Opponent Review: Los Angeles Chargers

Additions and Subtractions

The biggest addition and subtraction to this roster is at quarterback, where either Taylor or Herbert will step in to replace Rivers. How well either of them perform is paramount to the Chargers season, as, while Rivers was getting up there in age, replacing a legend within a fan base is never an easy task.

The Chargers also got much better along the offensive line, bringing in talented players like Bryan Bulaga, and Trai Turner. Up front along their defensive line, the Chargers added a Pro Bowl talent in Linval Joseph, while Chris Harris Jr. joins a secondary that already features the likes of Derwin James and Desmond King.

During the 2020 NFL Draft, Kenneth Murray joined Herbert as first round picks, as the Chargers traded up for the standout Oklahoma linebacker at pick No. 23. Murray was widely considered the best inside linebacker in the draft class, and fills an immediate void along this Chargers defense.

Melvin Gordon left for division rival Denver, while Travis Benjamin and Russell Okung join him as two offensive starters who left for new organizations this offseason. The defense lost Jatavis Brown and Adrian Phillips, as Los Angeles felt the need to make big changes heading into the 2020 campaign.
