Las Vegas Raiders still have options at cornerback via free agency

Dre Kirkpatrick

The Cincinnati Bengals made Dre Kirkpatrick a first round pick back in 2012, selecting the cornerback out of Alabama with the No. 17 overall selection. A two-time national champion with the Crimson Tide, Kirkpatrick took a few years to become a starter, but he would prove to be a valuable member of the Bengals defense from 2015 through 2018.

During that time, Kirkpatrick played under current Raiders defensive coordinator Paul Guenther, who had more success in Cincinnati than he has had with the Silver and Black thus far. In Kirkpatrick, he had a cornerback that he could rely on, and had he not gotten injured last season, he may still be with the team.

The Raiders have a lot of youth at the position right now, and Kirkpatrick is a guy who has had to fight every season for his starting job, something that could rub off on the younger players. He had a down year in 2019, allowing a high passer rating and suffering the knee injury, so he could be gotten on the cheap.
