Las Vegas Raiders secondary will have plenty of camp battles
Can Amik Robertson unseat Lamarcus Joyner?
Last offseason, one of the key additions to this Raiders defense was Lamarcus Joyner, who was coming off a breakout season for the Los Angeles Rams, and was expected to help lead a young secondary. Instead, the move to the slot had a negative effect on Joyner, who struggled mightily in his first season in the Silver and Black.
In the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Raiders used their last selection on Amik Robertson, a small, but aggressive cornerback from Louisiana Tech. Robertson plays well above his stature, and some believe he was one of the bigger steals of the entire draft class. You can expect him to give everything he has to unseat Joyner at slot corner in 2020.
If Robertson does unseat Joyner, that presents the Raiders with another good problem to have, as Joyner was stellar as a safety for the Rams in 2018. Overall, the quality of the players in this defensive backfield is much better heading into the 2020 campaign, and these battles are going to be fun to keep an eye on all summer long.
