By Brad Weiss
With 66 days until the opening game of 2020, we start the count down with the best Raiders player at every jersey number. Today we focus on No. 66.
With the season a few months away, we take a look at the best player to wear the jersey number of the number of days left before the opener on September 13, 2020 against the Carolina Panthers. That game will kick off the new era of Raiders football.
We continue our series with No. 66.
Looking back on those who have worn this jersey number in Raiders history, there are a few who were were not only durable, but also productive. Cooper Carlisle came over to the franchise from rival Denver, and started all but one of his games during a six-year span from 2007 through 2012.
Steve Sylvester was a guy who played with the Raiders franchise his entire career, and while he was not an everyday starter like Cooper, he was a guy who had solid versatility, playing center, guard, and tackle. Langston Walker played his first four seasons with the franchise, becoming a starter in his final year, before going to Buffalo and finishing up his career in Oakland.
On those solid 1990 and 1991 teams, Steve Wright was the starting right tackle during every regular season game, paving the way for guys like Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson
The man who is currently wear No. 66 earns our top spot on this all-time list, as he has been productive since being drafted in 2014, and is still growing entering Year 7.
