Las Vegas Raiders: 6 Free agents that could compete for starting jobs

Jadeveon Clowney, DE, 27

Jadeveon Clowney is the crown jewel of the remaining free agents and per reports is firmly on Jon Gruden’s radar. The Raiders are also reportedly a distant third on Clowney’s list after making a below market value offer for the former Seahawk.

Clowney appears to be taking his time with a decision but as we inch closer to training camp he may see the market dry up as teams are hesitant to splash the cash on a talented player who struggled with injury in 2019. When healthy Clowney was a gamewrecker for the Seahawks and he if signed with the Raiders would immediately be the best player on the defense.

If the Raiders are able to sign him on a short-term deal with a fair amount of guaranteed money it may entice him to join as he tries to play himself in to a more lucrative long-term deal. Team executives reportedly have concerns over his injury history and may be hesitant to lock him in to a four or five year deal but a dominant season under the bright Las Vegas lights could help convince a team to do so.
